MEGALOMANIA - FULL PRESS BIOGRAPHY

Megalomania is a five-piece thrash/death metal band from Malmö, Sweden, combining the speed and aggression of classic thrash with a broader range of influences that give the music its own character.

The foundation is old-school, riff-driven thrash in the tradition of Exodus. Most songs move at a fast pace, built around tightly executed guitar riffs and a rhythm section that keeps everything firmly together. Some tracks take a more direct approach, drawing on the raw energy of punk and Motörhead, while others explore heavier territory influenced by melodic death metal and the early work of Meshuggah.

At the front of Megalomania stands vocalist Emil Augustsson, formerly of Wulfgar. As the band's sole lyricist and the creative force behind all vocal arrangements, Emil plays a central role in shaping Megalomania's identity and musical direction. His ability to move between aggressive roars, deep growls, high-pitched screams and powerful clean singing gives the songs a wide expressive range. Working with the instrumental compositions, he brings his own ideas and interpretations to the music, making the vocals an essential part of each song rather than simply something added on top.

Alongside Emil, lead guitarist Kevin Linden adds another defining element to the band's sound. His fast, technically demanding guitar solos provide both contrast and intensity, giving the music an additional melodic dimension while remaining firmly rooted in thrash metal.

Behind them, rhythm guitarist and founder Dan Lundgren, formerly of Quadruple, provides the instrumental songwriting foundation, working closely with bassist Filip Stålberg, formerly of Eleine, and drummer Per Olofsson of Dead Sleep. Together, they form the tight rhythmic backbone that allows the band's faster and more complex arrangements to work.

Megalomania began as a songwriting project before gradually developing into a complete band. After several lineup changes, the current five-piece came together, bringing different musical backgrounds into a shared direction.

The band made its live debut at Malmö's NGBG Festival, receiving an enthusiastic response from the audience.

On November 28, 2026, Megalomania are scheduled to enter the studio to begin recording their first professionally produced material, aiming for a release in spring 2027. With new music on the horizon, the band is looking to expand its live activities throughout Sweden, with the longer-term ambition of reaching audiences across Europe.
