Megalomania is a thrash/death metal band from Malmö, Sweden, with its roots firmly planted in old-school thrash metal. Most of the band's songs are fast, riff-driven thrash in the tradition of bands like Exodus. Some take a more straightforward approach, with influences from punk and Motörhead, while others explore heavier territory, drawing inspiration from melodic death metal and the early work of Meshuggah.

“Death comes slow. Thrash comes fast.”
The result is a mix of different styles, held together by a common foundation in heavy, guitar-driven music. The songs feature a strong emphasis on rhythm, with guitars, bass and drums working closely together to create a tight and powerful sound. Guitar solos are an important part of the music, and the vocals cover a wide range, from aggressive growls and high-pitched screams to powerful clean singing. Megalomania began several years ago as a songwriting project, with guitarist Dan writing the material and searching for musicians who shared his musical interests. After a number of lineup changes, the band eventually came together as a five-piece, bringing musicians with different backgrounds and experiences into the same rehearsal room. The band made its live debut at the NGBG Festival in Malmö, receiving an enthusiastic response from the audience. With the first show behind them, Megalomania is now preparing to enter the studio to record its first professionally produced material, with new music planned for release in 2027.

Nobody knew who the fuck we were. Then we plugged in. Al Amili Biltvätt. NGBG Festival. Thrash fucking metal. The riffs hit, the place went insane — and somehow a fucking moshpit erupted in the middle of a car wash. No hype. No reputation. Just pure fucking THRASH.

“Megalomania turned a half-hour festival slot into something that felt like their own show. People passing by stopped, the crowd kept growing, and before long there was a mosh pit and the whole audience was clapping along. When the set ended, the crowd repeatedly chanted for one more song. For a band many in the audience had never heard before, the reaction said everything.”
